The Nova Scotia parliamentarian stripped down for "What Men Are Made Of," a calendar produced by the Women of Wolfville, a Nova Scotia theatre group, to raise money for the battle against prostate and ovarian cancer. While the 39-year-old King-Hants MP is photographed without any clothes on, you won't see the 'Full Scotty.' His admiring fans may be dismayed to see the 'Calendar Boy' is standing modestly behind a fridge door. "You can see his right flank,'' Wendy Elliot, who took the picture, told the Halifax Chronicle Herald.

Michael J. Fox vs. Rush Limbaugh, Who You Got?

The letter sent by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice assures Canada that U.S. is committed to notifying and consulting Canada about citizens who may be involuntarily removed to a third country. But the letter contains no formal apology.
What is Ottawa's response? They are "satisfied" with the U.S. response to Canada's protest about the handling of Maher Arar case.
Thank you for looking out for us guys.

Interesting article in Macleans about the fortunes of Peter MacKay and Belinda Stronach:
Belinda Stronach has slid while former boyfriend Peter MacKay has soared. Their failures and successes speak to the shifts in political mood. But their story also says a lot about how this country deals with political notoriety, particularly when it's embodied in a woman.

Majority Back Afghan-style Fighting, Says Who?
0 Comments Published by The R Rated Blogger on at 2:09 PM.
A majority of Canadians support military participation in "conventional combat missions," such as the Afghan counter-insurgency, as long as they're convinced the cause is just and progress is being made, according to a new poll conducted for the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute. The survey revealed that 55 per cent of Canadians are willing to send troops into danger even if it leads to deaths and injuries as long as they believe in the military's goals.
Guess who conducted the poll? The Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute. Who are they? The Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute is a Calgary, Alberta-based Canadian lobbying organization. Corporate donors to the organization currently include ENMAX and General Dynamics, the sixth largest defense contractor in the world.
No political agenda there.

Why doesn't the National Post publish an article without some sort of political agenda behind it.
The accompanying picture for the article, U.S. gives no apology over Maher Arar: report is the one below it.
The man hasn't done anything wrong yet his case is a black mark on the Canadian government. What's the point of the unflattering picture.
It's nearly 5:00 o'clock and yet no mention of the protest rallies being held all across Canada against the Afghan war anywhere on the National Post.

Jeff Suppan: “I try to put Jesus in front of everything I do.”
0 Comments Published by The R Rated Blogger on at 12:00 PM.Interesting little article about Jeff Suppan.
Suppan is also a devout Catholic who gives talks to children across the United States about living his faith in professional baseball. He encourages teens and pre-teens “to keep Jesus number one” in their lives. Said Suppan, “I try to put Jesus in front of everything I do.”
You can read the rest of the article here. This would explain his connection to Kurt Warner, James Caviezel and Patricia Heaton.

Peter MacKay returned to the parliament today for the first time since the "dog" slur incident.
In his first appearance in parliament since the ‘did-he, didn't-he' slur last week, Mr. MacKay flatly denied answering a parliamentary quip of “Don't you care about your dog?” with the rejoinder: “You already have her”.The foreign affairs minister is said to have motioned to the empty seat of his former girlfriend, Liberal MP Belinda Stronach, as he said it. But that denial in the House of Commons on Wednesday could land him in even hotter water -- for possibly lying to Parliament.

Being bored I decided to see how many brothers and sisters were elected to the parliament in the last election. I wasn't surprised to find any in the NDP. The NDP is too left for the brown people.
The Liberals have 6 brothers and sisters, which is not that surprising.
But I was surprised to find 3 in the Conservative Party.
I am sure the three are fine people but seriously as an immigrant to this country how does one identify with the Conservatives. I should probably ask my dad that question. He votes Conservative.

Check out the response ad to the Michael J. Fox ad supporting Stem cell research.
Guess who they feature in the response ad? Two baseball players (Mike Sweeney, Jeff Suppan), a football player (Kurt Warner), Actor James Caviezel and Actress Patricia Heaton.
The following are interesting facts about 3 out of 5 featured in the ad.
James Caviezel is a devout Roman Catholic and has publicly spoken at religious venues since the release of The Passion. On March 19, 2005 he was the main speaker at the first Catholic Men's Conference in Boston. Caviezel stated that he only chose to speak at the conference because he liked Boston Cardinal Archbishop Sean O'Malley. His wife Kerri, also a devout Roman Catholic, is a teacher and an accomplished flautist. The two are active in their parish in the Conejo Valley in California. Kerri supports a charity for single women with children and also volunteers with the Detention Ministry at a camp for incarcerated youth in Malibu, California. He prays the Rosary daily and has a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Patricia Heaton is known as an outspoken conservative, pro-life activist and is the honorary chairperson of Feminists for Life, an organization that opposes the practice of abortion. She is a Republican and supporter of both President George W. Bush and the U.S. military invasion and occupation of Iraq. In addition, she is an active supporter for the nonprofit world-hunger organization Heifer International. On her website she mentions giving Heifer International gifts to the cast and crew of Everybody Loves Raymond. Although she has been quoted as saying "once a Catholic, always a Catholic," Heaton now attends an evangelical Presbyterian church with her husband and their four sons. She has not left the Catholic church nor converted to Presbyterianism.
Kurt Warner is a born-again Christian.

Republican National Committee Ad Smears Canada
0 Comments Published by The R Rated Blogger on at 6:55 PM.
Maybe Stever and the boys at the Canadian Embassy should have hired a better PR firm because the advertising campaign highlighting Canada's role in Afghanistan sure didn't get noticed by the RNC.
A Republican attack ad stirring controversy in the U.S. mid-term elections does a drive-by smear on Canada, suggesting America's northern neighbour is a do-nothing country on world affairs...Produced by the Republican National Committee, the ''man on the street'' ad features a hefty man wearing suspenders and a ball cap, commenting sarcastically on his view of Democratic foreign policy. ''Let Canada take care of North Korea. They're not busy,'' the man says.
You can check out the ad in question here.

Does anybody else think that Peter MacKay calling Belinda Stronach a "dog" has to do with the fact that he wasn't invited to the 2006 Much Music Awards (MMVA)? Think about it. When you break up with somebody, don't you want others to view you as the cooler one?
But all of a sudden the 2006 MMVA comes by and you don't get invited but your ex does.
To boot, that nobody Jack Layton also gets an invite. So can you blame the guy for being a bit miffed.

Bob Rae: Why I left the Left behind, An Excerpt From His New Book
0 Comments Published by The R Rated Blogger on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 6:50 PM.I spent 20 years of my life as a member of the New Democratic Party, and was elected eight times to federal and provincial parliament as an NDP member. Why did I leave the NDP to join the Liberals?
Simply put, after lengthy personal experience, I concluded that the federal NDP and its Ontario counterpart are wedded to a culture of opposition and protest. They have great difficulty embracing the lessons of the postwar world about the relationship between markets, society and government. Determined to be in Canada what one of their leaders described as the "last, best, left," the New Democrats are confining themselves to an ever-smaller universe. They are ignoring obvious lessons of history, solid research, and the example of other left-leaning parties elsewhere, such as "new Labour" in Britain.

Wow, it took the National Post almost 18 hours after this story was covered by The Globe And Mail to put something on it. I guess they waited for it to die down but since the rest of the country has picked up on it, might as well put something on it.
Of course they picked the most flattering picture imaginable.
Great Drudge style layout guys.

Does this surprise any one with a track record like this from Mackay.
- 2 references to Belinda Stronach as a "dog".
- Telling former NDP leader Alexa McDonough in a radio phone-in show when he noted that McDonough had been campaigning in his Central Nova riding to "stick to her knitting.
“We'll see what happens ... I think you better stick to your knitting and win your own riding.”
- According to National Post columnist Don Martin in his book Belinda: The Political and Private Life of Belinda Stronach, when MacKay returned to Ottawa, he treated Stronach to "snide comments, nasty e-mails and furious glares across the Commons aisle.

Let It Go Peter
0 Comments Published by The R Rated Blogger on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 6:29 PM.Wow Peter, with a mouth like that no wonder she left you.
Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay referred to Liberal MP Belinda Stronach — his ex-girlfriend — as a dog Thursday in the House of Commons, the Liberals say.
The incident occured today as the Conservatives were being questioned in the House of Commons about their new Clean Air Plan
a Liberal jokingly asked Mr. MacKay about the impact of pollution on humans and animals: "What about your dog?" According to Liberal Mark Holland, Mr. MacKay motioned toward Ms. Stronach's vacant seat and replied: "You already have her."
This is not the first time he has referred to Stronach as a dog. Back when Stronach defected to the Liberals, he told reporters he planned to go home and walk his dog. "Dogs are loyal," he added at the time.
Personally would you call a woman a dog when she is dating Tie Domi.

Touche Mr. Rae, touche.
Early on, you said you would vote against the extension of this mission, now you're saying something different — that is, we have to prevail and sustain (Canada's commitment),” Mr. Ignatieff said to Mr. Rae.
“I actually don't know where you stand on this issue.”
“You certainly do know,” Mr. Rae shot back, then added, “For a guy that's changed his mind three times in a week with respect to the Middle East....”
I guess this is one way to get your message across.
